Quick answers
How does Bookshelf connect with WeChat Reading?
Enter your secure cookie token in settings. MeSQ securely synchronizes your books, highlights, and thoughts on schedule or on demand via a strictly read-only interface.
Are my WeChat credentials and reading data safe?
Yes. Credentials are encrypted and stored solely within your personal account. MeSQ never writes back to or alters your WeChat Reading data, nor does it share reading activity publicly.
What happens if a book is removed or highlights are deleted in WeChat Reading?
Once synced to MeSQ, your reading records and thoughts are stored independently. Even if a title is delisted or altered on the upstream platform, your personal archive remains intact.
Can I import other formats such as EPUB or PDF?
Currently, Bookshelf focuses on deep integration with WeChat Reading. For standalone PDFs and research papers, you can upload them directly into Attachments or attach them to Memos.
How do external AI assistants access my bookshelf?
MeSQ provides 3 standardized, read-only MCP reading tools. When authorized, assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor can search your books, chapters, and notes to provide contextual answers.
Is there a limit on the number of synced books?
The free tier includes generous book and highlight synchronization quotas suitable for active daily readers.
